The Fifth Fukuoka Asian Art Triennale 2014 opens in the Japanese city and its environs 6 September 2014 and will continue to 11 November 2014.

The Triennale’s programme of international exhibitions aims to introduce “the most up-to-date tendencies in art from 21 countries/ regions in Asia,” the organiser, Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, said.

This year’s triennial commemorates FAAM’s 15th anniversary and will run under the theme, PANORAMA OF THE NEXTWORLD: Breaking out of the Future. Painting, sculpture, installation and video art from 36 artists are featured.

Collaborative art making, workshops and performance will involve Fukuoka residents and international visitors, including 17 invited artists.

A special section showcasing what the museum calls “new tendencies” features Mongolian paintings. More info
