An annual feast for the senses: Korean Artists Association in the UK

The Korean Artists Association in London holds an annual feast for the senses — performances with music and dance, visual works with contemporary, experimental and innovative forays into drawing, painting and three-dimension art and modern interpretations of classical works in a rich array of Korean arts. Plus, of course, pop art in myriad new ways.

This year’s set of events (28 August – 6 September 2013), titled Collaboration and hosted by the Korean Cultural Centre (near Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery), started with a diverse offering of performances and visual arts by member artists.

This edition of the annual programme includes a welcome academic element: a presentation and workshop on Korea’s book art and a conference on Korean popular culture.

An event such as this would have been incomplete without some mention of Psy’s Gangnam Style, the 18th K-pop single by the South Korean artist, now a global phenomenon. Sure enough, “Piano style” in the KAA programme did just that. Download programme | KAA | Buy a link on this page
