Tantric exposures in Brussels

Historic Tantric imagery is presented alongside contemporary interpretations in a collaborative exhibition in Brussels of works selected by London gallerist Kapil Jariwala.

The exhibition at the Serge Schoffel gallery (14, rue Watteeu, 1000 Brussels) brings together old fragments, including pages from books, devotional Tantric texts such as prayer books. Presented alongside these traditional works are contemporary interpretations by Acharya Vyakul, Charlotte and Michael Peter Cain, Mali Morris and an unknown artist.

Acharya Vyakul’s work stays close to the Tantric philosophy and tradition while the works of Charlotte and Michael Peter Cain are noted for their use of tantric vocabulary and symbolism and Tantra’s spiritual content. Mali Morris appears to draw on tantric art and visual tradition’s inherent abstractions in work that is as accessible as it is sublime.
