Art Edition Korea aims for global audience

Korea’s Art Edition 2013 has set sights on global audiences as it prepares for its latest edition 5-8 December 2013.

More than 50 international galleries are expected to take part in the fair which will take place at SETEC, Seoul, under the auspices of the (South) Korea Print Photography Promotion Association with support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Eastern Art Report is the art fair’s media partner.The Association (KPPPA) specializes in limited edition artworks, such as prints, photography, sculpture and media art. The art fair has been following the development of digital culture and has thrown its support behind the production and sale of electronic media arts.

This year’s fair will feature several special projects, including focused exhibitions, the BELT Project, Art Chairs Project and a Special Print Project ExhibitionThe BELT Print/Photography/Media Art Competition has been organized by KPPPA for 18 years. Each year up to three artists are selected from each genre and are provided with opportunity to host a booth for a solo exhibition in the fair. This year’s selected BELT artists are: Hyongryol Bak (Photography), Woo Ri Jung (Print) and Je Baak (Media Art).

In the Art Chairs Project this year’s Art Edition Committee will collaborate with young artists to show diverse applications and a new approach to edition art.

In the Special Print Project Exhibition, the audience will have the opportunity to appreciate works done by renowned printmakers in Korea and study how printmaking in Korea has changed over time and reinterpreted in contemporary art world in terms of its form and use in modern society.

This is the fourth year of ART EDITION since the title of the fair changed from Seoul International Print Photo Art fair (SIPPA). Ever since the launch of ART EDITION, the committee has been striving to become Korea’s leading art fair by opening a successful edition specialized art fair.

ART EDITION 2014 will be held in Seoul Arts Center in connection with more diverse art and related businesses and more domestic and international galleries with high quality edition works.

Korea Print Photography Promotion Association (KPPPA) was launched in 1994 as Korea Print Promotion Association with the purpose of bringing public awareness to edition art and changed its name to Korea Print Photography Promotion Association in 2008.
