ArtGemini Prize deadline nears
With cash prizes to a total of £5,000 London-based Art Gemini Prize issued an open call for artists worldwide to send in entries for its First Cycle of awards in painting and photography. The new deadline for submissions is 12 October 2013.
The Prize carries cash prizes in three categories, Painting, Photography and Public Choice. Prizes total a cash value of £5,000.
The Public Choice will be based upon a vote by audiences at public exhibition organized by the Prize committees.
Up to forty shortlisted artworks will be selected by an international panel of judges. The art will be displayed in an exhibition in London open to the public at the Rebecca Hossack Gallery. Shortlisted artworks displayed at the exhibition will be offered on sale.
Artist entries will be accepted from 1 May 2013 with the submission deadline extended from 30 September to 12 October 2013. Artists may submit up to three original works created within the last three years for consideration. Acceptable media include painting in oils, mixed media, acrylic, watercolour, drawing, ink, calligraphy and print. Entries for the Photography prize include digital art. This year’s supported charity is Kids Company. Kids Company provides practical, emotional and education support to vulnerable inner-city children, reaching nearly 36,000 children in London. The Kids Company will receive a cash donation at the award ceremony.
The international selection team includes Sajid Rizvi, Chair of the Selection Committee and Judges Panel, Vanessa Champion, fine art photojournalist, writer and member of the Royal Photographic Society and Rebecca Hossack, owner of Rebecca Hossack Gallery.
